Download and Install AppCleaner on Mac

Removing a non App Store application on Mac OS is not a direct / on-click task. We’ll show in depth how to do it manually. But before we are introducing AppCleaner. A lightweight application for Mac OS you can download to uninstall / remove any application on Mac that was not installed using App Store. It supports Mac OS X 10.4 – 10-11

How to Remove / Uninstall applications using AppCleaner

  • Download and unzip AppCleaner.
  • You’ll be prompted to this: “Check for updates automatically?“. We recommend you allow “Check automatically” so you don’t have to worry about compatibility with new Mac OS releases.

Download AppCleaner - updates

  • Open Spotlight Search and find the app you want.
  • Drag the app you want to window (check the image)

Drop apps to AppCleaner

  • Press “Remove”
  • Enter you password
  • You are done.

Most of all this application is free and will work fine on Mac OS X El Capitan and macOS Sierra. We’ve tested some applications to remove / uninstall applications from Mac and we didn’t notice better features comparing with this. Excluding the fact of that some are paid.
