Secret and Hidden iPhone Features in iOS 9.3.1 / 9.3.2

There are quite a few tips, tricks, and hidden features with the iOS 9.3.1 / 9.3.2 (some of them should also work in older and newer versions), so you will definitely want to know about some of them if you have one of these devices.

All of these features are very useful and practical, so you shouldn’t be disappointed by any of them.

1 – Turn Off Night Shift and Low Power Mode at the same time

In order to turn on night shift and low power mode at the same time, you will need to go into the “Settings” app and navigate to “Display & Brightness” then “Night Shift“. In here you will want to ask Siri to turn on low power mode. Select “Manually enable until tomorrow” so that you have Night Shift and low power mode running simultaneously on the new firmware.

2 – Free up space (without jailbreak)

If you want to free up as much space as possible on your device, there is a very effective way to do that.

Step 1: First you will need to go into the iTunes store (App Store) and search for a movie that has a larger file size than what you have left on your device.

Step 2: Just click on the movie (you won’t get charged anything) and click “rent” You will see a message pop up telling you that there isn’t enough store space to do it.

Step 3: When the “Cannot Download” box appears on your device’s screen, click the “Settings” button and then “Storage & iCloud Usage” and you should see that you have a little bit more storage space on your device. The best thing about this little workaround is that you can keep repeating it and you will continue to get more space, though it won’t keep working forever. Try to repeat it 5 times.

3 – Get rid of annoying update pop-ups

If you want to get rid of all those annoying update pop-ups on your device, there is a way to get rid of them.

You will need to go to the “Setting” apps and then “Storage & iCloud Usage” > Tap “Manage Storage” and then “iOS 9.3.1”. In here you should see the software update and click “Delete” There will no longer be a badge on update notifications.

4 – Clear RAM

You can refresh/reset the app store by tapping on one of the icons at the bottom of the screen while you are in the store ten times. After you tap on them the screen will flash and go blank because the cache was cleared.

If your entire device freezes and becomes non-responsive, you can press and hold the power button and then press down on the Home button at the same time; this will clear the RAM on your device.

5 – Hidden Emoji Page

There is a hidden emoji page in the Messages app that consist of all text-based emojis.

Step 1: You can gain access to this page by first going into the “Settings” app and then the keyboard settings in “General“. Under “Keyboards”, tap “English”, then “Add a new Keyboard” and finally tap “Romaji”.

Step 2: After you have done all of this, you will need to go to the Message app and you will see a little smiley face button on the keyboard that will take you to the full emoji page.

6 – Lower the brightness on your device more than usual

If you want to lower the brightness on your device even more, you will need to go to into the “Settings” app and then to “General“.

Go to “Accessibility” and then “Zoom” Make sure that Show Controller is in fact enabled before you proceed. Click on the controller and take the zoom bar all the way down to the left.

Then select “Choose filter” and “Low Light” > Go to “Zoom Region” and select “Full screen zoom”.

Now when you triple click, the screen will dim. Whenever you triple click your device, it will dim even more than usual.

7 – Bring up the last phone number you dialed without going into Recents

In order to bring up the last phone number you dialed without going into Recent, just click the green button in the phone function.
